UPDATE: Ted Nugent blasts 'soulless' Parkland students in pro-NRA diatribe: NRA has 'no blood on our hands

Musician and NRA board member Ted Nugent called out the Parkland students for attacking pro-Second Amendment American families — and the NRA — over mass killings.

What are the details?

Speaking to Newsmax's "The Joe Pags Show," Nugent went on the offensive against those who would fight against preserving the Second Amendment — including outspoken Parkland students, who, at one point, he called "poor mushy-brained children who have been fed lies."

"These poor children, I’m afraid to say this and it hurts me to say this, but the evidence is irrefutable, they have no soul," he said during Friday's show.

"The dumbing down of America is manifested in the culture deprivation of our academia that have taught these kids the lies, media that have prodded and encouraged and provided these kids lies," Nugent added, after watching video featuring Parkland students such as David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez.

He went on to explain that he feels "sorry" for these kids, "because it’s not only ignorant and dangerously stupid, but it’s soulless."

"To attack the good law-abiding families of America when well known predictable murderers commit these horrors is deep in the category of soulless," Nugent added.

In continuing to defend the NRA, Nugent went on to claim that no mass killer has ever been an NRA member.

"[The NRA is] a bunch of American families who have a voice to stand up for our God-given constitutionally-guaranteed right to keep and bear arms," he explained. "We have no blood on our hands."

Update 4:46 p.m.:

In a Saturday tweet, Joe Pagliarulo of "The Joe Pags Show" said, "Keep in mind, [Nugent] was talking about how the two students called the NRA 'child murderers' and/or 'you're either with the killer or you're with us.'"

Anything else?

Nugent in June spoke of ending "hateful" partisan rhetoric.

In the aftermath of the GOP congressional baseball shooting, Nugent said, "I cannot, and I will not, and I encourage even my friends/enemies on the left in the Democrat and liberal world, that we have got to be civil to each other."

"The whole world is watching America where you have the God-given right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and we have got to be more respectful to the other side," he added.

Nugent concluded: "I’m gonna take a deep breath, and I’m gonna back down. And if it gets fiery, if it gets hateful, I’m going away and I’m not gonna engage in that hateful rhetoric anymore."
