Police officer punches black teen in the face during arrest. Now the Black Panthers are involved.

A viral video is making the rounds, showing a Wisconsin cop punching a 17-year-old black male and pinning him to the ground during an arrest.

What are the details?

WDJT-TV reported that footage of the incident, which took place Friday in the parking lot of a Wauwatosa, Wisconsin mall, was filmed on a bystander's cellphone and later uploaded to Facebook, where it went viral.

According to the station, mall security guards reportedly called the police on a group of people who were creating a disturbance within the mall, and who were refusing to leave the property.

What happens in the moment leading up to the filming of the disturbing footage is unclear, but the video shows two police officers engage with a young man, later identified to be a 17-year-old.

The Journal Sentinel reported that the teen allegedly began to physically fight one of the officers.

In the first few moments of the video, one of the officers can be seen punching the teen in the face and pinning him to the ground.

After pinning him to the ground, the officers appear to try to handcuff the teen as he struggles.

A few seconds later, the same officer can be seen taking another shot at the teen, this time striking him in the side of the head.

Newsweek reported that the teen begged police to call his mother during the scuffle.

According to WDJT, "the video showed only a small segment of the interaction between the suspect and the officer."

What happened to the teen?

The station added that the teen was arrested and cited for disorderly conduct, battery, and resisting an officer.

He was later released, according to the report.

Shift commander Lt. Jeff Farina said that the officer in question is still working, and that the incident is reportedly under investigation.

Wauwatosa Police Chief Barry Weber said, "I can assure you that we take all situations seriously when they involve a use of force by our officers. We thoroughly review all incidents in which force is used by an officer and will do so in this incident, as well."

What are the Black Panthers doing now?

According to CBS News,  Black Panthers Milwaukee are holding both mall security as well as local law enforcement accountable for the incident, and are reportedly demanding that the officer featured in the video be fired.

The Panthers also want the entire police department to attend diversity training.

"It doesn't matter if that individual was causing a disturbance in the Mayfair Mall, he did not deserve to be brutally assaulted, and punched in his face and knocked down and then placed on his stomach and punched in his face again," said King Rick, Black Panthers Milwaukee leader.

The group also called for a boycott of the mall.

Rick, in a video posting on his Facebook page, said that the mall has a history of racial profiling.

"For too often are we being subjected to racial profiling in this mall, far too often," he said. "Those dynamics have to change and we're here to demand that they change."
