Travelers are outraged after learning that a Chinese airline fired a flight attendant after her boyfriend proposed midflight.
China Eastern Airlines allegedly fired the woman for risking the safety of the passengers aboard the flight, Singapore 8 News reported.
What's the story?
About 30 minutes into a flight in May, passengers watched the mile-high proposal.
The unnamed woman's boyfriend got down on one knee, pulled a ring from his pocket and asked for the attendant's hand in marriage.
She said, "Yes!"
"I really didn't know that my boyfriend would propose to me on this flight. Thank you for being my witnesses," she told the passengers, according to 8 News.
They hugged and gave each other a brief kiss as the passengers cheered. And then she returned to her duties.
What happened?
A woman on the plane captured the proposal on her phone and shared the video on social media. It quickly went viral. But the excitement was soon soured.
A dismissal letter awaited the newly engaged woman when she got off the plane.
The airline claimed that the couple's romantic behavior was irresponsible and caused turmoil among those on the flight.
Her firing came to light last week when Liaoning Satellite TV reported the news of her firing, according to 8 News.
What was the reaction?
Many have taken to Twitter to share their outrage about the woman's firing over a marriage proposal.
