WATCH: Trump declares socialism will 'never' come to America in SOTU. Bernie's reaction is pure gold.

During his State of the Union address Tuesday, President Donald Trump declared that socialism, while it may have a foothold in other parts of the world, will never take root in the United States.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a self-avowed democratic socialist, reacted sharply to Trump's declaration — and it was caught on camera.

What did Trump say?

While expositing about turmoil wreaking havoc in Venezuela — which has come as a result of socialism, first implemented by longtime dictator Hugo Chávez, then his predecessor, Nicolás Maduro — Trump received boisterous applause when he vowed socialism will never find residence in America.

"We stand with the Venezuelan people and their noble quest for freedom and we condemn their brutality of the Maduro regime, whose socialist policies have turned that nation from being the wealthiest in South America into a state of abject poverty and despair," Trump said.

"Here in the United States, we are alarmed by the new calls to adopt socialism in our country. America was founded on liberty and independence and not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free and we will stay free," he continued.

"Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country," Trump declared.

How did Sanders react?

As the crowd applauded Trump's declaration, the camera panned to Sanders — whose face, red and adorned with a scorn, said more than any amount of words could.

Venezuelan turmoil has become the latest archetype demonstrating the damage socialism produces. And with politicians like Sanders and freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) gaining prominence in mainstream politics, Americans are becoming increasingly concerned that America will soon begin the transition to a quasi-socialist state like those in Europe that Democrats applaud and point to as worthy examples of progress that America should emulate.
