'This is your Democratic frontrunner'
A social media manager for the Daily Caller posted a supercut video on Twitter Wednesday showing clips of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) heaping praise on several communist regimes.
"From the Soviet Union, to China, to Cuba, to Nicaragua, to Venezuela, Bernie Sanders has never met a communist regime he didn't praise, regimes that killed millions of people in the 20th century," Greg Price wrote in the supercut post. (A supercut is the name for a compilation of short video clips.)
"This is your Democratic frontrunner," he added.
In the compilation video, Sanders can be heard calling himself a "socialist," praising the Soviet Union's cultural programs, which, he says, "go far beyond what we do in [the United States]," and arguing that China and its leadership have made "more progress in addressing extreme poverty than any country in the history of civilization."
He can also be heard celebrating Fidel Castro's revolution in Cuba, the Sandinistas in Nicaragua, and refusing to denounce Nicolas Maduro's reign in Venezuela.
After strong finishes in both Iowa and New Hampshire and a rise to the top of national polling, Sanders is now widely considered the front-runner in the Democratic presidential primary. But many centrist Democrats fear that Sanders' socialist views will undermine the party's efforts to take back the White House in November.
