Ocasio-Cortez hit with backlash after communicating threat to Donald Trump Jr. Then she backpedals.

Because that makes it better...or something

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) quickly backpedaled Friday after she appeared to threaten Donald Trump Jr. on social media.

Ocasio-Cortez was responding to a meme Trump Jr. posted to Instagram that blasted Ocasio-Cortez for her socialist views. "Please, keep it coming Jr — it's definitely a 'very, very large brain' idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month," the incoming congresswoman tweeted.

What happened now?

After communicating her thinly veiled threat, Ocasio-Cortez was ripped on social media. Many even accused Ocasio-Cortez of committing an ethics violation. Indeed, a source close to Trump Jr. told The Daily Wire that they "expect" an ethics complaint will be filed with the House Ethics Committee.

The backlash appeared to be too much for Ocasio-Cortez, as she quickly backtracked, refuting the accusation that she threatened President Donald Trump's son.

"For the GOP crying that this is a "threat" — I don't have power to subpoena anybody. Congress as a body, GOP included, has the power. No indiv. member can issue a subpoena unless they are a Chair (which, as a freshman, I can assure you I will not be). Also must be under purview," she said.
