Confused by digital currency? This app makes buying and selling bitcoin easier

Bitcoin and other types of digital currency are still confusing and mysterious to most people. On Thursday’s “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson,” Kal Elsebai’s App of the Week was an app that takes a lot of the mystery out of the process: Coinbase.

Available for iOS and Android, Coinbase lets you access your accounts on the go; send and request bitcoin; and buy and sell bitcoin directly through your phone. The app works with three types of digital currency and facilitated nearly $15 billion in digital currency exchanges in the first half of 2017, according to TechCrunch. Coinbase recently raised $100 million in Series D funding and hit a $1.6 billion valuation earlier this month.

Kal recently invested in digital currency, buying three litecoin at around $60 each.

“Do your research … but if you’ve got some cash to spare, it’s easy to have this in your pocket,” he said. “This cryptocurrency is going to be a big part of finances in the future.”
