EPA used your tax dollars to pay for gym memberships

Today on "The Chris Salcedo Show," Chris Salcedo reiterated his axiom "It is best not to give government more power, lest it be abused." That particular maxim was invoked today because the Environmental Protection Agency used 15,000 tax payer dollars to buy gym memberships for Las Vegas scientists.

Chris cited a Washington Free Beacon report uncovering the expenditure, perhaps highlighting why the Trump administration wants to cut $2.5 billion from the EPA's budget. The 37 scientists receiving these memberships to 24 Hour Fitness work in a library at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Chris suggested the underlying cause for such frivolous expenditures is agencies which come in under-budget are typically granted a smaller budget the following year. Responsibility is therefore not rewarded.

Chris submitted that zero-based budgeting might be the only solution to these practices because it forces agencies to justify their spending. He beckoned Congress to act, but imagined facetiously they would not, because, "Hey, they only make $174,000 a year."
