Millions of dollars found in Nigerian apartment

On Tuesday’s “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson,” Doc Thompson wondered if he should have emailed that prince back after authorities found millions of dollars hidden inside an apartment in Nigeria.

Last Friday, Nigerian authorities discovered more than $43 million in U.S. dollars inside an apartment in Lagos along with 23.2 million naira (Nigerian currency that comes to $75,000 USD) and £27,800 ($35,000 USD) that were “neatly arranged” inside hidden cabinets. The anti-corruption unit that discovered the money suspected the funds were illegally obtained.

Doc jokingly said he should have gotten in touch with the infamous Nigerian prince from email scams. “I knew I should have sent him my social security number! He got it illegally; it was a scam, but he did have the money. … Maybe he is a Nigerian prince!”

Everyone with an email address has gotten scam emails from a “Nigerian prince” who promises millions of dollars in return for personal information.

“I get like three of these a day,” Kal Elsebai said.

Doc wished that becoming a millionaire could be much as easy as emailing a Nigerian prince.

“You go to a stadium … it’s like 80,000 people. I just need everyone at that stadium to give me a dollar … I do one whole football season, 16 games. Boom, I make over a million dollars,” he hypothesized.

Kal countered, “There’s a profession that does that; it’s called begging.”
