Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh warned President Donald Trump this week about caving on his promise of a border wall.
A spending bill must be passed by Friday to averrt a government shutdown, but Republicans and Democrats are clashing on funding to build Trump’s promised wall on the southern border, among other issues. If Trump buckles under threat of a government shutdown, “the Democrats will just have learned that this threat works on Trump, too, not just all the other Republicans,” Limbaugh said on his show Tuesday.
On Wednesday’s “The Glenn Beck Radio Program,” Glenn Beck compared the situation to the 2013 government shutdown when Republicans blamed everything on Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), using him as a scapegoat to avoid blame.
“That was the GOP’s point,” Glenn said. “Only an 'extremist' would want to shut down the government over principle.”
Trump vowed over and over during his campaign that the wall would be built, so if he caves, he is giving up on his No. 1 issue.
“Donald Trump was elected for this,” Pat Gray pointed out. “This was his signature issue.”
“And he folds in three days?” Glenn asked in disbelief.
