Worried about Hurricane Irma? Reporter is taken aback when Florida man on the street says this

A reporter stopped a random man on the beach in Florida to ask what he thought about the safety risk due to Hurricane Irma. The elderly man startled the Fox News journalist by replying that the “westerly direction” of the storm boded well and referencing longitude to explain why the hurricane was less and less of a risk. Doc Thompson and Kal Elsebai listened to the amazing clip on Monday’s “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson.”

“I’m not so worried because it’s so far away, and it’s bearing as of 8 p.m. … not just westbound; it was 275 degrees,” the man told Fox News. “That’s only one-fifteenth above due west toward true north. So this thing is moving and has been moving in a very westerly direction and because it’s several hundred miles south, the risks are less and less.”

“He was really informed,” Doc said. “’And if you take the cosine of the projected path versus storms past, you can see the models clearly show …’” he jokingly paraphrased the savvy-sounding interviewee.

Millions of people in Florida are without power Monday morning after Hurricane Irma made landfall, hitting the Florida Keys at a Category 4 level and Marco Island as a Category 3 hurricane. Emergency crews have been at work to rescue people, and residents have been urged not to leave their homes until the full damage has been assessed. The storm continues to head north, threatening Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and the Carolinas with a storm surge and hazardous winds, CNN reported.
