Democratic congressman believes 'the greatest threat to the Second Amendment is to do nothing'

What part of 'shall not be infringed' does he not understand?

On Tuesday's episode of "Pat Gray Unleashed," Pat Gray and Keith Malinak discussed Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and comments the the congressman made on CNN's "State of the Union" about his position on gun control.

During the interview, Swalwell — the latest Democrat to announce his candidacy for president in the 2020 election — was asked if he agreed with former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens' opinion that we should repeal the second amendment.

"No, I don't agree but I think the greatest threat to the Second Amendment is doing nothing," Swalwell said.

He continued, "And the Second Amendment is not an absolute right. Just like free speech — you can't shout fire in a theater or lie about the products you are selling. You can't own a bazooka, you can't own a tank, you can't own rocket-propelled grenades."

"So we should put some limits in place," Swalwell said. "And I think the American people are with me. I'm no longer intimidated by the NRA. The moms and the kids, they're behind us on this issue. And I think it just takes leadership in Washington."

Pat stated that the Founders were quite clear and concise when they wrote the second amendment, so it is not difficult to understand what was meant by the usage of "infringed."

"To keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. That sounds pretty absolute to me," Pat said.

What about the fractured Democratic Party?

During a "60 Minutes" interview Sunday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) confirmed her belief that she is the only person who can unite the Democratic Party.

According to Pelosi, she believes that Democrats understand they must "hold the center" between moderates and progressives if they want they want to win in 2020.

Pat disagreed with Pelosi and speculated that Democrats do not understand that holding center is between the two caucuses is key, adding that he sees a fractured Democratic Party.
