Black activists threaten to protest MLK Day parade over Abbott’s presence

The Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade set to take place in Arlington, Texas, on January 15th is being thrust into the news due to Gov. Greg Abbott’s invitation to attend the parade as honorary grand marshal.

Black activists in the community -- including the Arlington NAACP, outspoken Dallas activist Dominique Alexander, Rev. Dr. Jeff Hood, and Democratic Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa -- called out Abbott and his policies as being the antithesis of Dr. King’s dream and for that reason, he shouldn't attend. Several news outlets in Dallas reported that activists and community leaders have vowed to protest at the parade if the invitation isn’t rescinded.

The pushback stems from the governor’s legislative decision requiring photo identification in order to vote which activists claim purposely targets minorities.

On Tuesday’s episode of “Pat Gray Unleashed,” Pat discussed the absurd reason for their protest.
