Santa Barbara City Councilman Jason Dominguez let slip the radical agenda behind progressive policies. The revelation happened at a meeting two weeks ago during which the City Council passed an ordinance to fine restaurant owners and employees for giving out straws.
Dominguez's statement was prompted by a resident who wanted to know what's next for the city of Santa Barbara, California.
"Unfortunately, common sense is just not common," Dominguez replied. "We have to regulate every aspect of people’s lives."
That comment was met with immediate backlash for insinuating the government should regulate "common sense."
Dominguez apologized for the statement but suggested that people don't understand rhetorical statements.
"I just wanted to apologize," he said. "A few weeks ago I made a string of words in a rhetorical fashion about regulation and they were not taken as rhetorical and that’s my fault so I want to apologize."
Dominguez represents District 1 on the city's east side.
