Legoland accused of ‘whitewashing’ over Meghan Markle Lego figure

Legoland has created a model of Windsor Castle and the royal wedding in anticipation of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials on May 19. The intricate wedding scene took 592 hours and nearly 40,000 Lego bricks to build – and now Legoland is under fire for the depiction of the bride-to-be.

People are pointing out that Prince Harry's and Markle’s figures were built with the same color of Lego brick for their skin tone, an oversimplification that doesn’t perfectly reflect real life. Prince Harry is very fair and redheaded, while Markle is biracial, with a mother who is black and a father who is white. The most extreme responses to the Lego brick wedding scene slam it as “whitewashing” and an “embarrassing mistake.”

In response, Legoland simply told TMZ that the figures were not intended to be “detailed representations” and that builders were working with a limited number of primary colors.

On today’s show, Glenn and Stu thought this story illustrated just how far political correctness has gone – now, we're all expected to feel outraged over Legos.
