A new study published in JAMA Pediatrics states the legalization of same-sex marriage has brought fewer suicide attempts from our nation’s youth. The study looked at the suicide rates before and after the Supreme Court passed the law in 2015 in both states that complied and states that did not.
States that complied had a 7% decrease in suicide attempts by high school students. Among LGBT students, there was a 14% drop in suicide attempts.
