The One Detail About Bowe Bergdahl's Behavior After His Release That Hero Navy SEAL Says Is 'Pretty Weird

"That’s a little weird I think."

Reacting to reports that suggest Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is refusing to speak to his parents following his release from Taliban captivity, former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell said such behavior seems “pretty weird” in this particular situation.

Luttrell speaks from experience as he was briefly held captive by the Taliban in Afghanistan following an intense gun battle with the terror group in 2005. Three of the Navy SEALs on his team were killed in the shootout and eight other Navy SEALs along with eight U.S. Army Special Operations aviators were later killed when a quick reaction force helicopter was shot down by an RPG.

Luttrell said when he was finally rescued by the military, the very first thing he wanted to do was see his “momma” and the rest of his family.

“That’s a little weird I think,” Luttrell said of the reports that Bergdahl is refusing to speak to his family. “Immediately when I got back the first person I wanted to talk to was my momma, absolutely, and my brother and my dad, just to get back to that family unit.”

The former Navy SEAL behind the book-turned-Hollywood blockbuster “Lone Survivor” also said “you can almost bet” that the Taliban will attempt to capture more Americans overseas after the Bergdahl swap.

“The way it works over there, they see something go down, that we released five of their guys for one of ours — there’s multiple groups out there and they’re not stupid, they’re really combat effective so they are going to know and they are going to go after more people and demand more for their release,” he said.
