Cop stops speeding student who's late for class — and can't tie necktie. So officer does him a solid.

Trevor Keeney was running late for a presentation at the University of Wisconsin-Stout late last month — and worse yet, Officer Martin Folczyk with the Menomonie Police Department spotted him speeding.

So Folczyk followed Keeney into a parking lot at the college around 9 a.m. on Nov. 30, and the pair's chat was captured on dashcam video.

Turns out Keeney — dressed in a suit for his presentation — didn't know how to tie his necktie. In fact, he stopped to see a friend who had the craft down pat, but he wasn't around.

What to do?

Folczyk had an idea — and asked for Keeney's tie and began to make a knot for his traffic-stop subject.

"While I do this, why don’t you grab your proof of insurance and your driver’s license quick,” the officer told Keeney.

After Folczyk tied the tie, he gave it to Keeney to try on.

“Probably not the best knot, but it'll work,” he told the student.

“A lot better than what I was gonna do, that's for sure” Keeney replied. “Thank you so much.”

Folczyk even readjusted Keeny's tie when it was too short the first time. And the student was let off with a warning, WBAY-TV reported.

Keeney told ABC News the Menomonie police chief invited him to the station for necktie-tying lesson.

"I went back and met with him for about 30 minutes, and he taught me!" Keeney told the network. "It was cool."

And how did Keeney do on his outside sales presentation? He got a 92 out of 100, ABC News noted.
