Four basics components most Americans don't understand about their own health insurance
February 23, 2017
Dr. Archelle Georgiou, a nationally-recognized physician, joins Doc Thompson to talk about how one in seven Americans don't understand how their health insurance works.
Dr. Archelle explains that premiums, deductibles, co-payments, and out of pocket maximums are the four basic components that most Americans can't seem to figure out. She wonders how Americans can spend that kind of money or the amount of a small car on healthcare every year and not fully understand how it works or what they're paying for.
Doc feels that it's not really all that sophisticated or complicated and is shocked by that statistic.
