BREAKING: Trump-Putin summit is on; details Thursday

President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet face to face in the near future.

Fox News’ John Roberts reported Wednesday morning that the White House is expected to announce the meeting today.

The Kremlin has confirmed that the summit will in fact take place. Russian foreign policy official Yuri Ushakov told reporters that President Trump and Putin will meet in an agreed-upon third country, adding that it will take several weeks to hash out the specifics.

The announcement comes as national security adviser John Bolton met with Putin today in Moscow. According to the Kremlin, they discussed international affairs and bilateral relations.

During their meeting, Putin told Bolton that their conversation “instills hope” for a more prosperous U.S.-Russia relationship, adding that he regrets the two nations’ relationship is “not in the best shape.”

Bolton said he would talk about "how to improve Russia-U.S. relations and find areas where we can agree and make progress together."

The United States and Russia are at odds over several international issues, including Russia’s annexation of Crimea, the ongoing civil war in Syria, and Russia’s support for America’s adversaries, to name a few.
