On Fox News' "Hannity" Wednesday evening, LevinTV host Mark Levin blasted former CIA Director John Brennan and said not only that President Donald Trump was right to strip Brennan of his security clearance, but that he should pull more security clearances.
"Let's see if we can unravel this from the fabulously stupid Omarosa media," Levin said.
Levin, a former top Department of Justice official, pointed out that Brennan had supported Gus Hall, a "Stalinist who was funded by the Soviets," for president in the 1970s, and that somehow this was "attractive" to President Barack Obama — who appointed him to the direct the CIA.
"How did this man ever get a security clearance?" Levin asked.
Levin pushed back on claims from Brennan and the media that Trump is attacking free speech. He said that a security clearance is a "privilege," not a "right," adding that "the fact of the matter is nobody's stopping Brennan from speaking."
"In fact, nobody could stop him. He's a bigmouth; he will never shut up; he will go on TV and be the kook that he is. The idea that he has a right to access to information because he served in the Obama administration at the CIA is a preposterous argument," Levin said.
He also criticized media claims that Trump is singling out partisan opponents to lose security clearances, noting that former FBI Director James Comey is a Republican.
Levin said that Trump should continue to pull the security clearances of top Obama administration officials including Comey, former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe, former FBI Agent Peter Strzok, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates.
"When these people had security clearances, what the hell did they do with them?" Levin said.
"All of these people with their security clearances in positions of power did nothing effective to stop the Russians from interfering in our election. They did nothing to stop China from stealing our technology. They did nothing to stop North Korea's nuclear program, and even worse, they awarded ... the terrorist regime in Tehran with $150 billion, right? With $150 billion and provided them with a pathway to nuclear weapons," Levin continued.
"It's not the obligation of this president to let them retain their security clearances; there is no constitutional issue; that's just nonsense."
Levin then savaged the media for making this an issue.
"Look at the phony media and the arguments they're making. 'This is like a dictatorship ... we've never seen anything like this before,' all these blabbermouths who know nothing. You're going to see Clapper on TV till you throw up on your loafers!" Levin said, making the point that if Brennan and Clapper et al. are on TV criticizing Trump, then obviously, their free speech rights haven't been taken away.
