It's official: Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, is among those being interviewed by President Donald Trump to be nominated to the Supreme Court.
Deseret News reported Tuesday that Lee had been interviewed over the phone by the president but said the senator would not detail the contents of his private conversation with Trump.
Lee's communications director confirmed the report on Twitter.
President Trump has also reportedly interviewed several SCOTUS candidates from a "short list" of potential nominees his 2016 presidential campaign put together.
Lee is backed for the nomination by LevinTV host Mark Levin as well as Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
“I think the single best choice that President Trump could make to fill this vacancy is Senator Mike Lee,” Cruz told Fox News. “I think he would be extraordinary.”
President Donald Trump will announce his nominee to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on Monday, July 9.
