Reason #1,652,894 progressivism is a cult

If you are a progressive folk hero like Barack Obama was made to be, you get to have relationships with the likes of terrorist Bill Ayers and spiritual huckster Jeremiah Wright and have them either ignored or explained away as non-sequiturs.

Or, if you're a progressive Hollywood director like Joss Whedon, you get to say the following on Twitter and have it squashed by a mainstream media that’s busy following porn stars to strip clubs:

“Donald trump is killing this country. Some of it quickly, some slowly, but he spoils and destroys everything he touches. He emboldens monsters, wielding guns, governmental power, or just smug doublespeak. Or Russia. My hate and sadness are exhausting. Die, Don. Just quietly die.”

Because woke.

But if you are a kid who just won the college basketball national championship, while becoming the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four, then you just might be a Klan member if your high school Twitter account isn't politically correct.

Because we're all racists now.

I’m talking about Villanova's Donte DiVincenzo, who came off the bench to score a head-turning 31 points before his one shining moment was quickly sent back to the bench, due to a technical foul of the social justice variety.

Turns out this white kid had the gall to quote rap music filled with derogatory language back in 2011 or something. And he made some gross sexual remarks before he ever learned how to drive. So obviously, burn him!

For as we all know, derogatory lyrics are really hard to find in rap music, so DiVincenzo clearly had to go out of his way to highlight them. I mean, his 14-year-old self was just asking for it.

Oh, and no other college basketball player – black or white – has ever done such a thing on Twitter before, either. They usually make really smart decisions on social media. This is simply unprecedented on every level. And yes, I just broke the sarcasm button on my keyboard.

But that’s all irrelevant, man, because the sages of the age have spoken and deemed a non-crime committed by a non-adult in the non-present worthy of shunning the young adult he grew into. Repent, sinner! The power of the state compels you! Sure, he may not even have used the Twitter account in question since 2016, and he was only 14 years old when he made the post that offended the SJW gods, but DiVincenzo didn’t think he was simply going to tiptoe away from such a trail of fake blood, right?

There must be a reckoning.

How about this, then: What if DiVincenzo agrees never to listen to rap or hip-hop music again? Whaaaat?!!!!! scream the SJW commissars. What disgusting white privilege! Don’t black lives matter to you?

Exactly.

It’s quite the scam. If DiVincenzo wasn’t guilty of racism for tweeting what he did as a kid, he would still be just as guilty of it if he didn’t like rap back then because of his lack of diversity. Unless he really was guilty of it all the time because of cultural approbation. In which case, no longer listening to and appreciating the thing that made you racist in the first place only isolates you even more in your toxic whiteness. In which case you are in self-imposed racist exile despite trying desperately to be black by emulating the other race's subculture and customs. Make sense?

No, it doesn't, because it's insanity. Sadly, though, it's also our new normal.
