Trump Needs to Brand Himself as the 'Term Limits President

Trump is in the perfect position to push term limits as the centerpiece of his campaign. I believe this idea would change politics and "business as usual" in D.C. forever...and get him elected.

What we all saw on display at the past few GOP presidential debates was the problem with America: A bunch of career politicians on the stage and an audience stacked against Donald Trump, filled with fat-cat donors, lobbyists and Washington, D.C. lawyers. They hate Trump because they can’t bribe him. They clearly own all the other candidates lock, stock and barrel.

Those "boos" you heard directed at Trump are proof positive he’s the right man to clean up the swamp in Washington. D.C. This strangle-hold by special interests rooting for crony capitalism and bigger government is clearly what has ruined our country.

Donald Trump is an outsider. He is the anti-politician. Politically incorrect, willing to tell the raw truth - even if it offends.

That’s why the perfect theme for Trump is to brand himself as "the term limits president." I believe this theme would put the nomination and general election away for Trump.

Here is the speech Donald should give this week in South Carolina. Announce - as the only true outsider running for president - that he will spend eight years in the White House “throwing the bums out.” He will lead the fight to limit how long politicians in D.C. can serve with a constitutional amendment.

This announcement and the following speech will so excite the American people that Trump will become more than the next president of the United States. He’ll become a folk hero!

Here is Trump’s speech:

I am out here campaigning for president day after day because, as you all know, Washington is broken - a place where politicians go to line their pockets. Electing a nonpolitician like me as president is a great start, but even with the commitment and energy a Trump presidency will bring to the White House, it is only a start.

What is needed is a long term fix, and that means forever getting rid of the entrenched political class who act like rulers, not public servants.

The answer is TERM LIMITS. Strict term limits, so those elected can spend their time looking out for the people who elected them, rather than selling their vote to the corrupt lobbyists financing their next campaign. Under my proposal there will never be a "next campaign" for any politician in America ever again.

Here’s the plan: Representatives serve only one, four-year term. Senators and the president, on 6six- year term. And, you only get the one term in either the House of Representatives or the Senate.

We’ll structure it so every two years and a half of the representatives and one-third of the senators will be brand new. If we don’t like the bums, we can automatically kick them out.

Most importantly, we’ll see a constant infusion of new citizen politicians who truly are in touch with the people they represent. They will bring new ideas and new energy to fight the government bureaucrats and battle waste, fraud, and outright corruption.

Did you know that right now the average representative has been elected and reelected almost five times and been in office nine years? It’s even worse in the Senate, where the average senator has been in office 10 years - which is more than a little misleading since more than half of them served several years in the House of Representatives before being elected to the Senate.

The 114th Congress convened with more ex-representatives than at any time since 1899.

Quite frankly it’s shameful, but shows what a good job the entrenched political elite have done looking out for themselves at your and this great country’s expense.

On the campaign trail, I have found that Americans are practical people. The argument you are sure to hear against term limits is “the value of experience.” That’s a con job meant to fool the people into re-electing the same frauds and crooks year after year.

Experience at what? Stealing your money and making sure crime and time in D.C. pays. We don’t need that kind of experience.

All you need do is look at the latest obscene federal spending bill where the politicians on both sides of the aisle handed out all the goodies they could to those who will pay to get them re-elected, while stealing our children’s future by plunging them ever deeper in debt. What a disgrace.

This latest budget will destroy the future of America. And it’s bi-partisan. The crooks are on both sides of the aisle. I’m going to Washington, D.C. to change all that. No wonder the audience of donors, lobbyists and special interest lawyers boo me so loudly.

So much for “the value of experience!” That spending bill that bankrupts your children’s future was created by "experienced" politicians.

Well I say, "THROW THE BUMS OUT" … and term limits are the way to do it.

The next question I’m sure to be asked is "How can we do it? It will take a constitutional amendment and Congress will never allow that."

The answer is a Convention of the States as proposed a few years ago by popular conservative national talk radio host Mark Levin. While hotly fought by career politicians, 36 states (particularly those that allow citizen initiatives) have passed term limits for governor and 21 states voted for term limits for their state legislators (although courts overturned them in six of those states).

While we’re at it, term limits for the Supreme Court is undoubtedly also a good thing. Why should anyone serve in any office for life, ruling over our lives?

The fact is folks, it won’t be easy and it won’t be fast, but as the ancient wisdom says, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” It’s time get the ball rolling.

Term limits will be a major focus of my campaign, along with repealing and replacing Obamacare and building a wall to secure our border. A vote for Donald Trump shows your support for killing "business as usual" in Washington, D.C.

My whole campaign is about kicking out the career politicians who think and act as rulers and tyrants and bringing back sanity and common sense to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

This is how we do it.
