The video's description on YouTube says that residents of southern Italy town were fed up with "poor conditions at a local rubbish dump." So how did they respond? Well, they did what any reasonable upset community would do -- they attacked police with fireworks. Duh:
The video's description adds that the government blames the facility's state on bad management, and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has pledged millions of euros in compensation while denying that health risks exists for the town's residents.
Oh, and for good measure, protesters have also set vehicles ablaze, burned Italian flags, and hurled stones at police. You know, just in case the the exploding fireworks didn't send the right message.
