Ex-NY Giant David Tyree Says Gay Marriage Could Lead U.S. Down Path Toward 'Anarchy

"...it changes the perception of what is good, what is right, what is just."

Some former Giants players are going rogue and inserting themselves in New York State's politically-hot gay marriage debate. Most recently, David Tyree, a former wide receiver, has come out strongly against legalizing same-sex marriage.

In a video recording for the National Organization for Marriage, Tyree explains his belief that gay marriage wouldn't be morally right for America. Though he admits that it is a "strong word" to use, he says the New York bill's legalization could guide the nation down a path towards "anarchy." According to TIME's NewsFeed he believes that legalization would have profound ramifications:

"Marriage is one of those things that is the backbone of society. So if you redefine it, it changes the way we educate our children, it changes the perception of what is good, what is right, what is just."

Tyree also stands against same-sex adoption. He says:

"...you can't teach something that you don't have. So two men will never be able to show a woman how to be a woman. That's just, for lack of better terms, common sense."

You can watch Tyree's video below:

His anti-gay marriage ad was made in response to former Giants defensive end Michael Strahan's video pronouncement in support of gay marriage. In Strahan's video, he says, "It's unfair to stop committed couples from getting married." You can watch his pro-gay marriage public service announcement below:

What do you think? Should pro-athletes be jumping into such a heated social and political debate?
