Times are hard. Especially if you're running for office.
Newt Gingrich has closed his $1 million line of credit with Tiffany's, according to the Atlantic. The presidential hopeful got some heat in May for owing the jeweler possibly as much as half a million dollars between 2005 and 2006, according to financial disclosure forms his wife Callista filed while working for the House Agriculture Committee. He caught even more flack when it was found out Newt had another line of credit with Tiffany's worth up to $1 million.
The Gingrich campaign has had a rocky start since it launched in May, with core members of his team exiting in droves in early June. Furthermore, the campaign is low on cash, sitting $1 million in debt, nearly half of which is reportedly owed to private flights.
