TV Celeb Rachel Uchitel May Sue Over Media ‘Misquote’ Saying She‘s ’Almost Happy’ Her Fiance Died on 9/11

“I believe Andy was meant to die because he was too good."

According to an article on Gawker, reality show star Rachel Uchitel may sue over a media "misquote" making it seem as though she said she's "almost happy" her fiance died on September 11.

Uchitel, whose fame ignited after an image of her dispair was distributed worldwide, has made tabloid headlines in recent years. Below, see the iconic AP photograph from 2001 when Uchitel publicly mourned the loss of her then-fiance James Andrew O'Grady.

Since 9/11, Uchitel has worked to move on and to find the positive side of her situation. She told the New York Post's Page Six that, a decade later, she thinks she's come a long way. According to Page Six (in comments that are being disputed), she allegedly said:

“I’m almost happy it ended the way it did because I’ve learned so many lessons from him. It would have been tragic if we got into fights and then divorced.”

Uchitel hasn't been married or engaged since O'Grady's death. She admitted to being one of Tiger Wood's "alpha mistresses" and has been a member of Dr. Drew's "Celebrity Rehab." Her life would've been much different if she'd married O'Grady, she purportedly told the Post.

“I would be a fat housewife with three kids in Sands Point, LI,” she said.

Uchitel responded Tuesday on Twitter to the NY Post's Page Six article, saying her comments were framed poorly.

"The NY Post Article today is COMPLETELY out of context and its horrifying how MEAN some media chooses to be to me even relating to 9/11. The NY Post 'journalists' are abusing the power they have by molding words and shaping how readers perceive people. This should be stopped," she posted.

Now Uchitel is planning to sue Page Six for "misquoting" her.

In addition, The Daily Mail reports Uchitel told TMZ, "I would have loved nothing more than to be Andy's housewife."

During an interview with The Daily Mail last year, Uchitel said she and Mr O'Grady "were madly in love and I was the happiest girl in the world.... In Andy I had found my rock, a stable male figure that I’d never had… then 9/11 happened."

She said she left for work early on that morning and didn’t kiss him goodbye because she didn’t want to mess up her lipstick.

"It’s something that haunts me," she said.

Years later, Uchitel returned to Ground Zero as part of Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab television show. She speaks with others who've lost their loved ones in this video clip:

Page Six says she plans to move to San Francisco with her boyfriend, Matt Hahn, and that the couple is talking about children.

“I never wanted them ... but I know how much I love my dogs, and I think I’d make a good mother to my own kids," she said.

Here's part of Uchitel's interview with Page Six:

Some are asking that the public not judge Uchitel too harshly. Andrew O'Grady's father, James, told The Daily Mail that Uchitel is not the same person she was when his son was engaged to her. "Maybe 9/11 had an impact on her and this is how she’s dealing with that," he said.
