Occupy DC turns Freedom Plaza into tent city

Renting a parking spot in this area of DC will cost you a couple hundred dollars per month, but apparently if you're a liberal protester, the National Park Service seems to think you're free to set up temporary residence... never you mind what the law says:

For the record, Accuracy in Media points out exactly what the law says:

The law states, “Temporary structures may not be used outside designated camping areas for living accommodation activities such as sleeping, or making preparations to sleep (including the laying down of bedding for the purpose of sleeping), or storing personal belongings, or making any fire, or doing any digging or earth breaking or carrying on cooking activities.”
