After they complain about banks but before they take "action to shut down PORT of Oakland," the useful idiots of Occupy Oakland are planning to carry out what most anti-capitalist protesters only ever dream of... a choreographed dance set to the tune of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive."
Here's the video -- so you can wag your finger, gyrate your hips and "compost capitalism" with them from the comfort of your own home. Personally, I think this sort of musical class warfare is exactly what Karl Marx had in mind -- a true (Dance Dance) Revolution:
Here's a transcript of their special anti-corporate lyrics (h/t Conn Carroll). In the world of OWS, "strong" and "action" rhyme -- who knew?
At first I was afraidI was petrified
Thinking I could never live
Without dollars by my side
But then I spent so many nights
Thinking how you did us wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to take action
‘cause we got jacked!
In your rat race
You rigged the game to profiteer
Off climate change and toxic waste
You gamble lives to push your stocks
And so we’re leaving finally
We’re composting capitalism
Together collectively!
Go on now go
Walk out the door
Just turn around now
Cause you’re not welcome anymore
Weren’t you the one percent who hurt me with your lies
You think I’d crumble
You think I’d lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
Oh, As long as I know how to love
I know I’ll stay alive
I’ve got all my life to live
I’ve got all my love to give
I will survive
[Dance Interlude]
It took all the strength you had
To tear us apart
We fight each other
With the pieces of our broken hearts
We’re the 99 percent
United in dissent
We used to cry
But now we hold our heads up high
And you see us
We’re feeling new!
We’re not that chained up little shopper
Still in love with you
Got us working to the bone
But today we’re breaking free
Now we’re saving all our loving
For our community!
