While the GOP works to unite behind a single candidate following a tumultuous primary season, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels today became the latest big-name Republican to lend his official endorsement to frontrunner Mitt Romney. It happened live this morning on Fox News:
“I did send a congratulatory note to Governor Romney the other day, with the offer to do anything I could to help him, and here I am," Daniels told Fox and Friends. “He’s already won our nomination; he earned it. He’s proven himself the best nominee we could put forward. I’m just happy to sign on and help him.”
As I noted this morning, Daniels is widely considered a viable option to fill the No. 2 spot on the GOP ticket this fall with his midwestern roots and reputation for fiscal conservatism. Is today's announcement a signal to Romney that Daniels is ready and willing to run?
What do you think? Does Daniels' endorsement make you more or less likely to support Romney in November?
