GOP organization in largest county in Nevada still pulling for Ron Paul

In the state that brought you Sharron Angle, a candidate who many grassroots and national conservative commentators quickly back away from now as having been unprepared and unqualified to challenge Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the actions by Nevada Republicans are once again making many in their own party equally determined in ousting President Obama cringe.

Jon Ralston of the Las Vegas Sun reports that the Republican organization in the most populous county in Nevada has placed a billboard in Las Vegas comparing Ron Paul to Ronald Reagan, and in a slighted manner, Mitt Romney to George Bush. The billboard encourages viewers to check-out the website of the "Oath Keepers," a group that describes themselves as a "non-partisan association of currently serving military, veterans, peace officers, and firefighters who will fulfill the oath we swore to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God."

"I swear, folks: The Republicans here are better than any act on the Strip," writes Ralston. "It is not even close."

The Hill reports that Ron Paul supporters took over the Clark County Republican Party earlier this year, and the RNC and Romney's campaign have begun to build a "shadow GOP" in the state to allow them to avoid having to work with local party structures hostile toward their goal of electing Romney.
