A story in The Daily today says despite GOProud sometimes being excluded in Republican politics, the gay conservative group still plans on partying at the Republican National Convention in Tampa next month.
The story itself doesn't explicitly say GOProud wasn't invited to the RNC, but it suggests as much. Furthermore, The Daily's Twitter account (@daily) sent out a tweet this morning that did say that. "GOProud wasn't invited to the RNC, but they're showing up anyway - and throwing a dance party," the tweet said.
GOProud's co-founder Jimmy LaSalvia told me the tweet was incorrect. "The RNC has been great to work with," he said. "We are invited to the RNC. In fact, it's the opposite. The RNC has been great to work with in helping us to make arrangements to attend." He added, "We think that our Homocon event will be THE must have ticket of the week. It's going to be a blast!"
