Eric Holder: 'I'm still Ricky from 101st Street

Essence profiles Attorney General Eric Holder and his wife Dr. Sharon Malone, an OBGYN in D.C., for the September issue of the magazine. In the piece, Holder talks about the "Fast and Furious" scandal. "It's not going to stop me from doing the work I am dedicated to doing. In fact, it's going to intensify my efforts," he says.  "People will judge me not on the basis of this vote, but on the basis of the work I have done and will continue to do.”

Yawn.

But then there's this, from the press release:

They are in the truest tradition of Washington—a power couple—with each a pioneer in their field, yet never wavering from their roots.  Holder is quick to point out, “I’m still Ricky from 101^st Street and she’s still Sharon from St. Anthony Street.”

Ricky from 101st Street?! Sounds a like a new Jennifer Lopez song.
