Charlie Crist got a speaking spot at the DNC

Former Florida governor and ex-Republican Charlie Crist endorsed President Obama for reelection yesterday in an op-ed for the Tampa-Bay Times. The AP is now reporting, based on an anonymous official working for the Obama campaign, Crist will speak at the Democratic convention next week.

The official didn't provide a date or time for Crist's speech.

“I applaud and share [Obama's] vision of a future built by a strong and confident middle class in an economy that gives us the opportunity to reap prosperity through hard work and personal responsibility," Crist wrote in his op-ed yesterday.

Crist left the GOP in 2010 when he lost the Party nomination to then-U.S. Senate Candidate Marco Rubio.

Similarly, Artur Davis, a Democrat-turned-Republican who spoke at the DNC in 2008, will speak at the Republican convention.
