Considered by many to be the deadliest sniper in U.S. history, legendary Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle recorded 255 kills, 160 officially confirmed by the Pentagon, and served four tours of duty in Iraq. That's where he reportedly earned the nickname "The Devil of Ramadi" from insurgents.
His longest confirmed shot was from 2,100 yards, or 1.2 miles, when he killed a man armed with a rocket launcher.
Tragically, Kyle was one of two people fatally shot at a shooting range in Erath County, Texas on Saturday, according to several news reports.
Besides being an American hero, you may recognize Kyle's name from his time on NBC’s reality show “Stars Earn Stripes” in 2012 where he showed off some of the skills he picked up during his time as a Navy SEAL.
