Is a New Supreme Court Case Putting the 1965 Voting Rights Act in Danger?

The Supreme Court began taking up the hot-button issue of voting rights this week as the justices hear Shelby County v. Holder.  The constitutionality of a tough provision from the 1965 Voting Rights Act is in question; the portion of the law that requires states like Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina to bear an arguably unjustifiable burden when it comes to reforming or changing how they conduct elections because of past civil rights abuses.  The court's decision will impact reforms like Voter IDs and other anti-fraud measures.

On 'Real News' Wednesday the panel was joined by Horace Cooper of the National Center for Public Policy Research to discuss the specific provisions under the Voting Rights Act that are under fire, their original intention,  and the arguments we're hearing against them in 2013.
