High School Kicker's Phenomenal Field Goal That You Have to See to Believe
March 07, 2013
No way...
At one point in time, football experts would have told you that making a 70-yard field goal was impossible. Obviously, they would've been wrong.
It didn't occur in an actual game, however, Jonathan Semerene proved that it could be done by drilling a 70-yard field goal during a training session with kicking coach Brandon Kornblue. As the Yahoo! Sports blog Prep Rally notes, Semerene would be the new national record holder for a field goal at any level if he had made it during a game.
Oh, and did we mention he's a junior in high school? He currently attends Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Fla., but if this video is any indication, we may see Semerene in the NFL one day.
Back in October, Washington high school kicker Austin Rehkow set a state record by nailing a 67-yard field goal in a rivalry game. Even he would be impressed.
