Texas Congressman Reveals New Details in Boston Bombings: Explosives Used Were 'Similar' to IEDs Used in Afghanistan

During a radio interview with Houston radio host Joe Pags on Monday, Rep. Ted Poe (R-Texas) confirmed several pieces of information that, until now, have been unverified and attributed to unnamed law enforcement sources.

Poe confirmed that law enforcement officials are "watching" a 20-year-old "person of interest" which he called a "Saudi national" who is here on student visa. Again, until now, media outlets have been quoting anonymous law enforcement officials when reporting these details.

According to Poe, the explosives used were "similar" to IEDs used in Afghanistan. He even said that early reports he had heard said there may have been "ball bearings" inside.

"They think that he probably had something to do with this or has some information on what happened," Pags pressed.

"On both, yes," Poe replied.

The Republican congressman also noted that the 9/11 attackers all entered the United States legally before committing the worst terrorist attack in American history. "We will find all of that out, the glitches in the system...and how that occurred in this situation where someone got into-- who looks like may be involved in this situation, we don't know yet though," Poe said.
