Hilarious Parody of Dove 'Real Beauty' Ad Shows How Good-Looking Men Think They Are

"...we are committed to creating a world where illegitimate beauty is not a source of confidence."

Last week, Dove's Real Beauty campaign released a now-viral video ad with sketches by a forensic artist comparing how women see themselves with how women see each other.

Here is the idea behind the "real beauty sketches":

Women are their own worst beauty critics. Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful. At Dove, we are committed to creating a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. So, we decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see.

When the two sketches of the women were compared side-by-side, it became obvious how much women focus on their own flaws, which, as seen in the second sketch, were not the focus at all by the women describing them. The campaign's idea was to show women "you are more beautiful than you think."

On Friday, the comedy group New Feelings Time released a video of the same experiment -- this time with men. The men's description of themselves were far more confident -- and hilarious. Then, women were asked to describe the men to the artist.

"Men are not their own worst beauty critics," the video description states. "Only 4 percent of men around the world consider themselves average looking. At New Feelings Time, we are committed to creating a world where illegitimate beauty is not a source of confidence. So, we decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how men view their own beauty in contrast to what others see."

When the forensic sketch artist, who can't see the subject, asks them to describe their features, the men say things like:

  • "My mom said I have the most beautiful teeth."
  • "I would say the older I've gotten the more stunning I've gotten."
  • "...I have a balanced face, almost like a white Denzel Washington."

Women's descriptions, on the other hand, included things like "looking like he smelled" and "something fresh out of Mordor."

"I never realized that two opinions could be so vastly different," one of the men says when he sees the sketch of his own description and that of a woman's opinion. "That is not me and I refuse to believe it."

Take a look at the video, which has more than 1.3 million views on YouTube as of Sunday morning:

"And don't forget, men: YOU aren't as beautiful as you think!" the parody video description reminds.

This isn't the only parody of the Dove campaign video either. Here's another hilarious comparison of how men describe themselves -- and how other men would describe them -- by CladwellMan (Content Warning: some strong language):
