Hear Amanda Berry's Voice as She Calls Her Grandma for the First Time to Say She's Okay

"I thought you were gone."

So far, the only recording of Amanda Berry's voice -- the young woman held for 10 years in Cleveland -- has been a frantic 911 call she made during a daring escape. That is until now.

A local Cleveland news station, WEWS-TV, was on the scene Tuesday when Berry called her grandmother to let them know she was okay.

"Amanda," Fern Gentry said to her granddaughter as she fought back tears. "How are you?"

"I'm fine," Amanda reassured.

"I'm glad to have you back."

"I'm glad to be back."

“I thought you were gone.”

“Nope, I’m here.”

Grandma then asked if the young girl seen in a hospital picture, Jocelyn, was Berry's daughter. She said yes, and then added another detail: She was born on Christmas.
