Bob Schieffer: Obama's red line 'may be the only good reason left' for Syria strike

CBS "Face the Nation" anchor Bob Schieffer on Sunday endorsed the Obama administration's position to strike Syria for its government allegedly using chemical weapons on its own people.

"The president of the United States drew a line in the sand," Schieffer said. "A red line. At this point that may be the only good reason left for Congress to give him the authority he now asks to respond to Syria's use of chemical weapons."

Schieffer went on to say that if the U.S. doesn't act on Syria, it would bolster other foreign enemies, like North Korea and Iran, which the U.S. has warned against pursuing nuclear power.

Many members of both chambers of Congress have argued against attacking Syria, saying that doing so wouldn't advance America's interest.
