Woman Behind Viral Bus Stop Dance Video Lands Role in Professional Stage Show

The woman behind the now-viral “bus stop Dancing Queen” video has gone from being a surprise Internet celebrity to landing a role with a professional stage show.

And you all remember the video that made the Eastleigh, England, woman famous, right?

Here it is:

Ellie Cole was given a role in a play at The Point Theatre, in Eastleigh, Hampshire, after a writer saw her bus stop dance video.

The opportunity was particularly exciting for Cole because it represented a second chance. See, she used to study performing arts at Eastleigh College but had to stop because she couldn’t afford it

But now she gets a shot at the stage.

“It’s very flattering and humbling,” she said. “There’s no doubt it’s very exciting.”

“I’m just a normal everyday person who happens to like dancing at bus stops,’ said the 35-year-old. “Still to this day I find it hard to believe what happened with the video. It’s like ‘wow, why me?’”

And contrary to the popular internet video, she wasn’t listening to Abba’s “Dancing Queen.” She was listening to Alesha Dixon’s “Knock Down.”

“I have my headphones in every day on the way back from work and I just can’t help myself – I just dance,” she said.

“Wherever I am, if there’s music I find myself jigging along to it,” she added. “I think anybody who likes music could identify with it.”
