John McCain Rips Ted Cruz on Senate Floor, Says the 'People Spoke' on Obamacare

"We fought as hard as we could in a fair and honest manner and we lost."

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) went after Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) following his amazing 21-hour anti-Obamacare speech on Tuesday and into Wednesday, "resoundingly" rejecting a reference to Nazi Germany.

"If you go to the 1940s, Nazi Germany," Cruz said Tuesday. "Look, we saw in Britain, Neville Chamberlain, who told the British people, 'Accept the Nazis. Yes, they'll dominate the continent of Europe but that's not our problem. Let's appease them. Why? Because it can't be done. We can't possibly stand against them.'"

McCain slammed Cruz for making the analogy, calling it a "great disservice for those brave Americans and those who stood up and said, 'what's happening in Europe cannot stand."

"I do not agree with that comparison. I think it's wrong," he added.

The Arizona senator, growing increasingly unpopular among conservatives, also argued that "the people spoke" on Obamacare when they reelected President Barack Obama in 2012. However, he went on to say lawmakers shouldn't "give up our efforts to repair Obamacare," but not at the risk of a government shutdown.

"We fought as hard as we could in a fair and honest manner and we lost. One of the reasons was because we were in the minority, and in democracies, almost always the majority governs and passes legislation," he added.
