Violet Ripken, 75, scared off the would-be carjacker, who was armed with a handgun, when she pressed her vehicle's panic button on her key ring, according to CNN.

The ensuing alarm scared off the man away, but not before his face was captured on camera.

Police were able to use the images to track down and charge 33-year-old Jesse Bowen with attempted armed robbery, attempted armed carjacking, assault and other offenses on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

Bowen is being held without bond.

Last year, Ripken was also taken from her home at gunpoint, before later being returned unharmed.

Police don't believe the two crimes are related.
