Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer said recently that NFL's Washington Redskins should go ahead and change its now-controversial name, simply out of "common decency."
In his Friday column, Krauthammer gives his official alternative recommendation:
How about Skins, a contraction already applied to the Washington football team? And that carries a sports connotation, as in skins vs. shirts in pickup basketball.Choose whatever name you like. But let’s go easy on the other side. ...
Hail Skins.
To reiterate, Krauthammer is offering up a term associated with amateur pickup sports games to replace the traditional name of a football team. "Skins" also calls to mind Buffalo Bill from "Silence of the Lambs" (1991).
