Why Was This Famous Pop Star Kicked Out of a Mosque?

"B***h stole my look."

Rihanna is known for her edginess. On Saturday, despite her best efforts to tone down her sometimes-revealing clothing, the 23-year-0ld pop star was kicked out of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, for taking pictures that violate the house of worship's "moral codes of access."

While she was dressed head-to-toe -- and even sported a hijab (Islamic head scarf) -- during her visit, officials may have dubbed Rihanna's outfit too offensive, resulting in her being booted off of the holy site, USA Today reports.

Her red lipstick, gold jewelry and tight black clothing were reportedly too much for the mosque's leaders, especially when mixed with photography and a dose of social media.

See, the singer stuck various poses around the site and posted them to her Instagram account. And along with the pictures came some comments from the singer that some might find offensive.

One picture showed Rihanna in front of a group of Muslim women who were also dressed in all black. She commented, "B***h stole my look." In another, the singer wrote, "#NoTanLines," clearly in reference to the fact that her body was completely covered up.

But while some are playing up her clothing as the main problem, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque's statement said that a violation of the rules surrounding accessible areas was also one of the main issues at hand.

The release, which was given to The National newspaper, begins:

“The Centre strives to ensure that visitors enter the mosque in a decent fashion, and refrain from behaving in any way that is inconsistent with the sanctity of this religious place. In the event of behaviour that violates the moral codes of access to the mosque, or other visit regulations – such as taking inappropriate pictures, posing in ways that are improper in the context of sacred place, talking loudly, or eating – the violators are directed in a polite manner that reflects the civilisational and tolerant attributes of Islam. Usually, the visitors are appreciative of that."

According to the statement the singer, who was not mentioned by name, went to a gate that is not meant for visitors; she did not coordinate with the mosque nor identify herself. As a result, Rihanna was reportedly told to go to the main gate and to take the guided tour like everyone else, explains the release.

"She left without entering the mosque, after being asked to do so, due to the fact that she had taken some pictures that do not conform with the conditions and regulations put in place by the Centre's management to regulate visits in a way that takes the status and sanctity of the mosque into consideration," it continues.

Rihanna was in the UAE for her Diamonds World Tour.
