Did Ayn Rand anticipate Common Core?

In a word, 'yes.'

With Common Core pushing forward in more and more insidious ways, Glenn Beck recently re-read Ayn Rand's classic Anthem. As Glenn describes, Ayn Rand sets up a world in which there is no "I" or "Me," only the collective. "We" is all that exists in the characters' vocabulary and in the societal structure more broadly. Rand's book reflects the kind of collectivist philosophy that Americans will be subjecting their children to under a Common Core academic regime. As Glenn said on a recent show: [sharequote align="center"]Read Anthem, it's a short story...[that] shows this collective society gone wrong.[/sharequote]
