Dramatic Dash-Cam Video Shows Officer Fighting Man Wanted for Murder

"...the Taser wires pulled out and he got up and ran."

A manhunt is still underway for a suspected murderer in Texas after a police officer in Leon County got into a physical scuffle with the suspect -- and it was all captured on the cruiser's dashboard camera.

According to KHOU-TV, Colt Morgan is charged with the murder of his fiance Wende Marshall, accused of burning her body in the fireplace and burying her remains in a Harris County backyard. Marshall was last seen on Oct. 30.

Eventually, a manhunt led investigators to Leon County where 28-year-old Morgan was stopped walking on a rural highway, according to KHOU.

"Whenever he went to pat him down you know the suspect turned and fought with the officer and ran," Sheriff Kevin Ellis said, according to the news station. "When he fell forward, the Taser wires pulled out and he got up and ran."

Ellis told KTRK-TV that the dashcam video shows Morgan reaching to his waistband, where authorities said he kept a pistol. In the struggle with the officer, Ellis said Morgan dropped a Glock.

The officer was identified as Stephen Pate with the Buffalo Police Department. Pate told KBTX-TV he didn't know that the man he was questioning at the time was Morgan, a man wanted for murder.

This incident occurred Nov. 23, but the footage was released Monday. Morgan has not been seen since the struggle. According to Leon County Today, Ellis said in a press conference Monday investigators believe Morgan is likely still in the Buffalo area. He said Morgan does not have a car but is suspected of stealing a four-wheeler.

Other thefts have been reported in the area within the last few weeks and, upon searching, authorities found a makeshift shelter they believe to be where Morgan had been living.

Residents in the area were told by Ellis to be on their guard.
