We Sing of Christ': Multi-Faith Ensemble Aims to Bring 'God Back Into Concert Halls

The Millennial Choirs & Orchestras is a unique music ensemble with multiple locations around the country that collectively works to encourage and educate participants -- and the public -- by exposing society to "sacred and classical music."

The organization's work will be showcased in "The Performance," a special two-part program airing Tuesday and Wednesday on TheBlaze TV at 8 p.m. ET.

Through the show, viewers will get a first-hand look at how music directors Brett and Brandon Stewart transform 800 ordinary vocalists and musicians into a large, multi-faith choir.

From auditions and rehearsals to the final performance, viewers will get to see the entire process unfold.

For those with an interest in faith and patriotism, the Millennial Choirs & Orchestras has plenty to offer. According to the group's website, its primary purpose is "to fulfill the need for more refined music education in our communities, with a focus on God and country."

Brett Stewart told TheBlaze that secularism has pushed God out of the public sphere and that the Millennial Choirs & Orchestras is trying to bring the Lord back into concert halls.

"Exerting our right of free exercise to worship, we are bringing God back into concert halls and back into the hearts and lives of the masses by performing the music of the masters that is innately worshipful," he said. "Our deep Christian faith is found in every aspect of MCO. We sing of Christ, we pray in rehearsals, and we recognize the spirit in the entire process."

Stewart said most participants are from a Judeo-Christian background, though people of any faith are invited to be a part of the Millennial Choirs & Orchestras. He even said that there have been some atheist and non-religious participants in the past.

"The feelings that result from the uplifting music are contagious regardless of the text, but for those who believe the experience is doubly rewarding," he added.

With a focus on youth, the group believes it's important to uphold faith-based values through its music.

"MCO provides an invaluable learning environment whereby children, youth, and adults may associate and develop talents with those who maintain upstanding Christian values, while instilling in its participants a deep love for sacred and classical music," the group states on its website.

Stewart expanded upon the Millennial Choirs & Orchestra's focus on young people, noting that the group's motto is "All ages. All faiths. One voice." Rather than diminishing the size of the ensemble, he said that the group believes wholeheartedly that there is power and strength in numbers.
